Turf disease common names

Common names for turfgrass diseases are frequently confusing. For example, we have been using the name "pink snow mold" to describe a disease caused by the fungus Microdochium nivale. This same disease used to be called fusarium patch because the fungus used to be called Fusarium nivale. This confusing situation was addressed by a group of turfgrass pathologists within the American Phytopathological Society when they published a list of common names for turfgrass diseases.
