Photos of the week: grass tags after two types of mowing

I suppose I've imagined this to be the case, but I never really looked at it this carefully. Then a couple months ago, Nelson Caron sent me two images, with a note that he thought I'd find them interesting.

The first one is ultradwarf bermudagrass tags from a regular mow, just cutting off tiny bits of the leaf tips. The photo is taken through a small magnifying loupe.
