Photo of the week: Zoysia in a C3 fairway

In the USA transition zone there are many courses with zoysiagrass on fairways and with cool-season grass in the rough. At high elevations in central Japan, that grassing plan sometimes gets flipped around. Fairways are cool-season grass, and the rough is Zoysia japonica.
The Zoysia japonica has seeds, rhizomes, and stolons, and it can move into the fairways, as it has done in a few spots on the fairway in this photo.
