Earthworms

Earthworms are another fall/winter problem on golf courses. Problems with earthworm castings (i.e. poop) are worst during the rainy, cool weather that many locations experience in the fall, winter and spring. Though generally regarded as beneficial (their presence can promote aeration and thatch degradation), high densities of castings can have negative impacts on golf play, turf quality and general course appearance.
