Annual Bluegrass Invasion of Bentgrass Greens: Can It Be Stopped?

Although there are many methods that can help slow down it’s rate of encroachment, invasion of bentgrass greens by annual bluegrass (Poa annua) is inevitable. Even when extensive efforts are made to keep greens Poa-free, invasion can only be delayed for 5 - 6 years. The only sure-fire way to guarantee pure bentgrass greens is to schedule greens fumigation and re-surfacing every 7 - 10 years.
