Anthracnose hits the West

Anthracnose attacks poa greens that are under stress from a variety of factors - heat and drought stress being the most likely in the West due to recent hot and dry conditions there. Some early cases of anthracnose were confirmed last week in California by Dr. Frank Wong of the University of California. Importantly, the anthracnose threat temperature (> 65 F average air temperature) was reached (and surpassed) in these same locations during the past few weeks.
