Ball marks result from the combined impact of golf ball force and spin on turf plants. The initial impact of the ball causes a relatively minor depression in the turf which appears to be relatively innocuous. However, the impact of golf balls on turf can frequently cause irreversible damage - in the form of bruising and tearing of the turf foliage.
