Bipolaris attacking stressed bermudagrass

The incidence of Bipolaris leaf spot on bermudagrass has been on the rise for the past few years, and this year unfortunately, seems no different. The disease is caused by the fungus Bipolaris cynodontis and is particularly damaging on bermudagrass fairways that are stressed due to low light, cool temperatures, low nitrogen or other pests.

Intervention is usually necessary if the turf is stressed. Both cultural and chemical practices should be employed, as outlined below.
