Keep an eye out for brown patch in the fall and winter

In warmer climates, brown patch (caused by the fungus Rhizoctonia) can cause some serious damage during the winter rainy season. As long as average air temperatures remain above 60F (15.5C), this disease can strike. And when overcast or rainy conditions occur, the threat of "cool season" brown patch is increased substantially. The disease can strike on bermuda, paspalum, kikuyu and zosyia fairways, as well as cool season greens.
