It's hard to believe that only one week ago the skies above Southern California were sunny and bright, without a hint of trouble on the horizon. Or was there? We had been warned for months that a combination of drought, dry brush and Santa Ana conditions (high wind and low humidity conditions that frequently occur in Southern California during the fall months) would spell trouble for this region — it was only a matter of when, not if.
