Genetically engineered bluegrass approved for sale

In a surprise move, the U.S. Department of Agriculture granted approval to Scotts Miracle–Gro to field test and to sell Kentucky bluegrass that has been genetically engineered to survive applications of Round–up (glyphosate). Although the genetically engineered bluegrass will not be available for sale for a few years, this decision may represent a loosening of government restrictions on genetically engineered turf.
