To water in or not to water in: grub prevention strategies

When applying Merit (imidacloprid) or Mach 2 (halofenozide) for grub prevention, superintendents always have two important questions:
1. Do these products REALLY need to be watered in? 2. If watering in is required, can I wait until the nighttime irrigation cycle, or do I need to water in immediately?
