Grub problems in late summer

White grubs at this time of year usually spell trouble for turf that is already tired from the heat, traffic and humidity of the summertime. We usually receive a few calls about white grub problems in late August and early September.
Grubs at this time of year may be the result of escapes from applications of imidacloprid (Merit), clothianidin (Arena) or halofenozide (Mach 2) made earlier this year. These products are active for 2 to 3 months, so if you…
