Heat index, "feels like" temperature, or actual temperature

We received a question about which temperatures to use when calculating GP: should one use the "feels like" temperature or the measured air temperature?
The answer is, when it comes to the grass, and growth potential, use the actual air temperatures.
The heat index used in the United States is "a measure of how hot it really feels when relative humidity is factored in with the actual air temperature."
