Manganese and take-all patch again

The following post is a reminder on how to adjust soil manganese to make take-all patch a “take-less” disease.

The first step to managing take-all patch (Gaeumannomyces graminis) is to check you soil pH and manganese levels. Based upon work conducted at Rutgers University by Heckman et. al., sufficient manganese availability is the key to prevention of take-all patch. We have also observed that courses with take-all patch problems are frequently low in soil manganese.
