More on greens firmness

As noted in the PACE Insights "Getting a grip on greens firmness", we conducted a research study to identify the components that contribute to greens firmness and to develop management practices that will promote greens firmness without threatening turf quality and health.

In our initial work, we identified soil moisture as a key contributor to firmness problems. The wetter the soil, the softer the green was. Non-uniform irrigation distribution was shown to be a major culprit in this problem. We…
