New EPA rule on restricted use pesticides

On August 24, 2015, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) opened a 90 day comment period for a proposed new rule on restricted use pesticides (RUPs). Because of EPA concerns regarding the safety of these products, restricted use pesticides are already subject to tighter regulations, and are therefore not available for sale to the general public, require special handling, and may only be applied by a certified applicator or someone working under his or her direct supervision.
