New native plantings, new pests

As documented in the recently published report, Land use characteristics and environmental stewardship programs on U.S. golf courses, there has been a large increase in acreage devoted to natural or native or unmowed areas of the golf course. This includes forests and woodland, native and undisturbed grasslands, mixed and improved grasslands, shrublands, deserts, riparian areas, buffer strips, beaches, alkaline areas, and garden/landscaped areas (whew!).
