Nitrogen and spring dead spot management

Some welcome news from Dr. Lane Tredway of North Carolina State University, who has been studying the role of fertilization programs on spring dead spot (SDS). After several years of field and lab studies, he has good evidence that application of nitrogen can dramatically reduce SDS symptoms, by at least 10–fold. But there's one catch— you have to know which of 3 different species of Ophiosphaerella is attacking your turf (this fungus is also known as Leptosphaeria).
