Fall aeration can sometimes trigger a disease outbreak as this video illustrates. In that case, the disease that was incited was rapid blight, but it could just as well have been brown ring patch, pink snow mold or others. In this photo, the stress caused by aeration and topdressing resulted in an anthracnose outbreak. Application of a preventive fungicide before aeration could have avoided this problem.
