Photo of the week: algae causing damage on greens

For those of you who are not currently buried under several feet of snow, algae can be a cool-weather problem on greens. Although the proper scientific name is cyanobacteria, most of us still refer to the black slime that forms on the turf surface and on turf foliage as "algae".
