Photo of the week: crows and grubs

On a recent trip to Sri Lanka, I saw a few areas of fairway that had been torn up by crows. These areas had a high concentration of white grubs, and the crows tear the turf while they are hunting the grubs.
These are tropical carpetgrass (Axonopus compressus) fairways. The damaged areas are treated with insecticide and with a fast release fertilizer. This grass grows quickly in a topical climate, and recovery takes about a week.
