Photo of the week: Drought or disease?

It's easier than you think to mistake drought and heat damage for disease damage. In this photo, it would be easy to guess that the yellowing poa was being struck by a disease such as brown ring patch. However, after being examined in the lab, we found no evidence of any pathogens. Instead, the ring like damage pattern was caused by drought sensitive poa biotypes,which were surrounding more heat tolerant patches of bentgrass.…
