Photo of the week: Leaf spot

We have been seeing more cases of Bipolaris leaf spot on warm–season turf these days. This particular photo was taken on kikuyugrass. Though Bipolaris is a relatively weak pathogen, it can cause significant trouble for turf that is stressed by low light, low nitrogen, cool temperatures (which is why we frequently see it in the fall) or other pests.
