Keeping levels of soil potassium low (though no lower than 37ppm, Mehlich III), as proposed in the Minimum Levels for Sustainable Nutrition soil guidelines, can dramatically reduce damage from snow mold, as this photo from Dr. Doug Soldat's multi-year field trials at the University of Wisconsin clearly demonstrates.
