Photo of the week: putting green seedheads (on Zoysia!)

Fine-bladed Zoysia can be used on putting greens. This grass is especially well-adapted to conditions of high air temperature and relatively low light. These conditions are found in many tropical locations, especially when combined with tree shade.

Zoysia also produces seedheads when days are short and temperatures are high, which is also a condition found in tropical locations. Varieties of Zoysia that produce seedheads under these conditions include 'Diamond', which is shown here on a putting green in SE Asia.…
