Photo of the week: stabilizing rootzone fibers

The rootzone in this image was amended with fibers to increase the shear strength of the soil.

This is on a practice green at North Shore Country Club in Illinois. Dan Dinelli told me that the shear strength of the soil is increased where the fibers were added, but also pointed out two drawbacks when using fibers to reinforce a putting green rootzone.
