Photo of the week: surprising green color

I did not realize Stenotaphrum secundatum (St. Augustinegrass in the USA, buffalograss in Australia) could retain so much green color in winter temperatures. The photo here shows Stenotaphrum in the foreground, at rough height, with some green color. The photo was taken in mid-January, and the warm-season growth potential at this location in western Japan has been 0 for the past month.
