Photo of the week: tire marks on zoysia in spring

The Meyer zoysia in this photo shows tire tracks caused by tractor traffic in winter when the fairway was covered in snow.

Perhaps the compaction of the snow under the tires led to ice formation, or otherwise reduced the insulating effect of the snow.

In the summer one can see zoysia leaves that have a similar appearance when traffic (such as golf carts or maintenance vehicles) has gone across dry turf.
