Can you have billbug damage, even when there are no billbugs are present? In the case of this kikuyugrass fairway, the answer is a careful "yes".
Careful, because unless we actually find the pest in question, we can never be 100% sure why turfgrass damage has occurred. But "yes", because sometimes pests leave behind such characteristic signs of their damage, that there is almost no doubt that they have recently been visitors.
