Revisiting the re-entry interval

Almost every pesticide label has wording that addresses the amount of time needed between when the product is applied and when people can enter the treated site. This time period is commonly referred to as the restricted-entry or re-entry interval (REI). The enforcement of the REI typically falls to the state, with violations carrying fines ranging from $50 - $5,000.
