Soil pH and aluminum

Aluminum can cause phytotoxicity in turfgrasses under certain soil conditions. The most common cause of aluminum toxicity is the result of low soil pH. When soil pH drops below 5.5, aluminum from aluminum containing materials in the soil can become available to the plant. To prevent aluminum toxicity, simply maintain soil pH above 5.5.
