Spring and sycamores

Sycamores (Plantanus racemosa) are the host to anthracnose. When attacked by anthracnose, leaves become crumpled, dry and brown and the trees look as if they are dying. California native populations of sycamores act as reservoirs for anthracnose which will naturally spread to trees at golf courses every year.

Sycamore anthracnose (Apignomonia veneta) causes lesions on leaves and can blight young leaves. When lesions are viewed from the underside, they reveal acervuli and masses of spores. Spores measure 6 x 24…
