Spring dead spot during the winter

Spring dead spot is a difficult disease to manage. The reason is that the pathogen(s) that are associated with the disease must be controlled before the fall bermudagrass dormancy period. If the disease is not controlled in the fall, the infected plants become more frost sensitive and are killed during the winter. The result is selective winter-killed patches of bermudagrass where the disease has affected the plant's ability to survive cold temperatures.
