Update on PCNB stop sale order

On August 12, 2010, the EPA issued a Stop Sale, Use or Removal Order (PDF, 332 KB) for PCNB, after EPA's lab analysis of the product revealed the presence of "highly toxic impurities". The nature of these impurities was not disclosed by the EPA, however, as this information is considered confidential business information.
The stop sale order applies to all products that contain PCNB (pentachloronitrobenzene), regardless of manufacturer, since the impurities were discovered in the technical grade material (produced by…
