What birds can (and can't) tell you

Superintendents frequently rely on birds to clue them in on the unseen insects that are lurking in the turf, ready to pounce and destroy. This is a great IPM scouting tool. It has been reported that crows are particularly fond of white grubs, while starling activity is a good sign that black cutworms or sod webworms may be present.
