Swiss Greenkeepers Association Autumn Meeting 2026

Updated October 7, 2026

This is my handout for the Swiss Greenkeepers Association Autumn Meeting held October 6 & 7 at Golfpark Oberkirch.

This page contains slides for download along with links to additional information. I’ll update the page with additional resources after our discussions at the meeting.

Adapting fertilization to growth potential, MLSN (Minimum Levels for Sustainable Nutrition)

You can create a free account at PACE Turf to get our informative newsletter sent about five times per year. Also see the membership page for more details.

ClipVol (clipping volume), GvX (growth vs expected), Soil organic matter management (2-4-6 cm)

The search page at PACE Turf will provide rapid access to a lot of information on these topics.

Sand and soil analyses: choosing the appropriate sand for the rootzone

This video shows how to measure the exact amount of sand applied.

I suggest using the OM246 calculator to find details about organic matter accumulation and sand topdressing rates for your site.

Nutrient uptake in the soil

In general, the soil will supply enough Ca and Mg to meet grass requirements. Nitrogen is usually required to stimulate extra turf growth. Irrigation water or soil organic matter usually provide enough S, but sometimes S can be beneficial. Soil P and K may or may not be sufficient to meet the grass requirements, and soil tests (soil nutrient analyses) are a good way to check if the soil can supply what the grass will use, or if fertilizer is necessary.
