Bermudagrass susceptibility to Bipolaris: it depends on the variety

The group of fungi in the genus Bipolaris infect the foliage, crown and roots of primarily warm-season turf varieties. Although there are several fungicides that do a good job of controlling this group of diseases (see Table 1 below), selection of turf varieties that are either tolerant or resistant to the disease can save money, time and fungicide applications — not to mention the superintendent's peace of mind.
