Greens firmness and soil moisture

The greater the soil moisture, the more that greens lose firmness, as the graphed data from January, 2006 shows. Yet superintendent Dave Zahrte of Santa Ana CC was able to at least partially de-couple soil moisture and firmness with a sand topdressing program that he instituted in spring, 2006.
