Dr. Micah Woods at the Asian Turfgrass Center (@asianturfgrass on Twitter) recently highlighted research on the key plant characteristics that allows some turfgrasses to avoid drought-induced dormancy. The research titled "Drought responses of above-ground and below-ground characteristics of warm-season turfgrass" was published by Brishow, et. al. in the Journal of Agronomy and Crop Science in 2018. The most interesting and logical observation was that varieties with longer roots were able to avoid drought by mining water from deeper soil profiles.…
