New name for dollar spot pathogen

The identity of the fungus that causes dollar spot has been a controversial topic for decades. At last, it appears that the controversey may be over. In a recent publication by Salgado-Salizar et. al. "Clarireedia: A new fungal genus comprising four pathogenic species responsible for dollar spot disease of turfgrass," the researchers claim their work "... puts to rest a major controversy amongst plant pathologists and provides a foundation for better understanding the nature and biology of these destructive pathogens."…
