Timing poa seedhead applications

Suppressing the production of poa seedheads with either Embark (mefluidide) or combinations of Proxy (ethephon) and Primo (trinexepac-ethyl) removes one of poa’s most obnoxious features, making it almost lovable at times. But proper timing of these applications is critical for best results.

In this PACE Turf Reference on Poa and Degree Days, we describe degree day models based on both 32F and 50F, as well as the use of visual observations to trigger seedhead suppression tactics.
