Bermudagrass is a hardy turf that resists many of the diseases that plague cool–season turf. Recently, however, we have seen several pretty ugly infestations of Pythium graminicola on bermudagrass on Twitter. When the disease really gets galloping, the foliage turns black and greasy. And when incubated in a moist chamber overnight, white and cottony mycelium erupts. We show you the symptoms in the field, as well as in the lab, and discuss the weather conditions that led to this outbreak.…
