This video will illustrate the characteristics of superficial fairy ring, sometimes called Type 2 fairy ring. The symptoms include degradation of the thatch layer and a green ring where the fungus is located. Hydrophobicity (water repellency) of the soil is not associated with superficial fairy ring.
